This AM I had to correct David Steele of the Sun who seems to have been unaware that the Black Sox were, in fact, indicted and tried (and found not guilty in an OJ sort of way).
Bad as Bonds is - and he is bad - he was cheating to WIN. The Black Sox (and perhaps Pete Rose) were cheating to LOSE. There's a big difference in my mind.
So throw Bonds out, don't let him into the HOF, but keep all this in perspective.

i guess what people are saying -- without saying it -- is they don't want bonds/rose to cash in on HOF. and they don't want to be subjected to further hypocrisy at induction.
from from definitional perspective, however, it's not the HALL OF PURITY ... it's the HALL OF FAME.
Funny, I was just thinking about Ty Cobb and what he might say....
