we're clOse

this is a very big day here at blog world headquarters. we have added new FEATURE for RIGHT RAIL, which is loaded down with goodies! and we have EMAILS to share with readers.

but first: our bankrupt yet well-sourced hometown paper says team is near long-term deal with fancy right fielder! even more amazing, team boss andy macphail is actually quoted!! kudos to hometown paper for quality journalism! this leaves Wayward O feeling quite chipper as he prepares to hop on Ravens Bandwagon today.

but wayward o bets fancy brian roberts is soooo jellus! don't worry robblerobble we'll throw you a bone ... how bout 4yrs / $50mil? you won't have to live in larry bigbie's basement for long!!!

now onto blog-related news. on RIGHT SIDE of blog -- along with polls, links, team news ticker and, um, google ads? -- we now have REALTIME TEXT SUPERPALOOKA TEAMATRON where wayward O will update diaspora with latest news NO MATTER WHERE NO MATTER WHEN! that means you should now check blog at least ONCE AN HOUR EVERY HOUR.

also wayard O's mail box has been busy lately. he received following mail from fan foodie in which blog profiled grub at stadium. wayward O has never had crab pretzel but this will be remedied this summer.

and we have email from sully baseball in which blogger profiles all-time greatest homegrown Os vs. all-time greatest acquired Os. it's worth read ... or two.

many thanks for those and other mails. keep them coming.

cOunter offer

some dood at the dallas news fields a question about toilet bowl rangers and trades:

From e-mail: My question is one of the IF kind. IF the Rangers can't get it together and get over .500 and into the AL West race, and IF we decide to sell off, who are the likely candidates to leave and where will they go and who do we get back. -- Scott

Evan Grant: Wow, Scott, you don't want much do you? It would be a total guess right now, but Mark Teixeira certainly would be a guy the Rangers would have to consider trading. (...) the best deal the Rangers could try to make is with Baltimore for Nick Markakis and a pitcher. Easier said than done for many reasons, including that Baltimore may not be a contender and the Orioles are difficult to deal with.

OK. you got your dig in. cool. orioles are hard to deal with ... that explains the john maine trade!! perfect!! wayward O says that's a good way to get hired at EsPn since they are blatantly racist against Orioles anyway.

if rangers can't get it together? if??? the rangers are HORRIBLE. unlike kc and dc, they don't even have an excuse. they have plenty of money and continuity. like pretty much everything dubya touches, the rangers have turned to turd.

regarding this scenario, however: first off, the yOung savior will never be a texas ranger. he's a greek kid from the east coast. fried twinkies are not his thing. maybe he'll be a met someday ... in like 2015. but a ranger? haha. second, fine dOn't trade teixeira before his contract expires. he'll just sign with baltimore in 09 anyway! everybody knOws the maryland boy wants to hit in the comfy confines of camden.

the funniest part is how texas billy says, "markakis AND a pitcher." as if the very notion of trading the young savior for a first baseman wasn't ridiculous enough. hey, if you are blue-skying you may as well go whole hog.

wayward O proposes the following trade at the deadline: Os get teixeira. rangers get jay gibbons, kevin millar and a tin of old bay. rangers smile and say thank you.

c'mOn, sammy

streaky. temperamental. nO dh. still a good fightin' squad tho.

Tiny bubbles presage the rising

hOw come the manager didn't know the rules last nite?

(quoting AP:)

Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore made a diving catch. Markakis tagged up, headed for home and appeared to cross the plate before Tejada doubled off first. Plate umpire Marvin Hudson waved off the run.

Orioles bench coach Tom Trebelhorn disputed Hudson's call before the start of the fourth, and Hudson then conferred with Montague and the other umpires.

(...)

Baltimore manager Sam Perlozzo said Trebelhorn alerted him that the run should count.

"I told Sammy it's never too late," Trebelhorn said. "That's our run. I've seen runs put on the board after the game."

there you have it. if the evil one wants a reason. he has it. the young savior was nearly denied a run!!!!!! :(

cOmebacks & cOrey

who's got the most comeback wins in beisbol? say it with me ... Os!

last night they came back twice and held jays in the ninth ... setting the table for the yOung savior. wayward O doesn't understand why jays brought infield in, however. that was dumb. with bases loaded and one out in a tie game, wayward O says ... bring the outfield in but leave infield at regular depth or double play depth. had jays' manager done this, jays would have easily turned a DP on the young savior's ground ball. instead, the Os get an easy win (relatively speaking....)

wayward O is hearing more crazy talk. there are some who say: take cOrey out of of CF vs lefties and let jay payton play CF. stop smoking crack! corey is a terror on the bases and i hope everyone saw his sick catch in early part of last night's game, robbing lyle overbay of a home run trotsky.

patterson is the center fielder. vs. lefties. vs. righties. vs. ambidextries too.

the yOung savior

blogger sucks.

the young savior already has two HRs vs. dodgers today and he's pulled one back.

in budgetary terms that's a total of three HRs in two innings.

plus he's a handsome bastard:

sports illustrated says Os have no shot at postseason and baseball prospectsuck apparently says they will finish behind devil rays.
the wayward O begs to differ.
dodgers' rafael furcal got hurt on the first play of the game.
